Does anyone use Vantage in a san environment? Currently I am experiencing issues with mxf files not picking up on a watchfolder located on the san. I was unsure it was due to having an old version of flip4mac.

Hey Myrid,

We have had Vantage living on Promise with XSAN in the past. Is it just MXF you are having the problem with, or everything?

IIRC, we have had two issues with the watcher. We are not certain if they are actually SAN related, but we did see the problem while the watch was on the san.

First issue, we were scanning sub-folders and we were continually adding subfolder in the directory. There seemed to be some kind of limitation on the amount of recursion, or just pure total number of sub-folders that the watcher would put up with.

The solution here was to split the directory up into two groups and make a second watcher.

The other issue we saw, again on the san, but maybe not related to the san, was that one particular piece of bad media would seem to foul up the watcher. This was several updates ago.

We haven't encountered either issue in over a year and a half. Maybe close to two years now.

Keith
