I have a Microsoft LifeCam Cinema. Amongst other resolutions, it supports 720p. In VidBlaster, it works just fine, at either 720p or 640 x 360 resolutions. In Wirecast, it shows up, but no matter what settings I use, it is just a blank screen.

Thoughts? Ideas? I'm using Windows 7 32-bit.

It sounds like we're having an issue with the driver. Let's work on fixing that.

I recently bought the Life Cam Cinema it does work w/Wirecast.. but I can't seem to get it to do 16:9.. which is why I got it.. although it does seem to be a tad of a resource hog..

My question is that do I need to upgrade to the HDV module to show shots in true 16:9..

I have set my preferences to Aspect Ratio: 720 HDV (1280,720) which show's on preview screen. The only way to get a full screen on a shot is to UnCheck the respect aspect ratio which basically stretches out the shot ..

I have the same issue. I also have the HDV module and that does not help.

What does the HDV module provide then? Is there any advantage of purchasing it..

HDV module allows one to use HDV camera over firewire. Other forms of HD are not affected. BTW

I'm seeing a similar issue to zimode with my Logitec QuickCam which supports 720. In FMLE I can select 720 as the source but if I select 720 as the Source Aspect Ratio in Wirecast it sees it as 4:3.

tonyreno if you have the Life Cam do state so explicitly because I can't make assumptions when I document issues. Also zimode and hexydes have different issues which is why saying "same issue" doesn't help in any post. Are you getting blank or wrong aspect ratio?

Sorry Craig,

Yes I have the LifeCam HD Cinema, and I am getting the wrong aspect ratio; 4:3.

As well, I am also using the Sanyo TH1 cameras which have HD 16:9, but also show up in Wirecast as 4:3

From your post, it seems that the HDV module only support Firewire?

For you guys getting the wrong aspect ratio, it sounds like you didn't configure the LifeCam to use 720p resolution in the LifeCam software interface. I didn't try using a non-wide aspect ratio resolution (I will tomorrow), but I would bet it would work.

I've tried 640 x 360 and 1280 x 720, and in both instances the LifeCam is detected and can be added as an input, but the video stream is either blue or black.

Hey hexydes,

Yes, I have tried 720p and the the other presets the HD Life Cam comes with, but no matter what I adjust it to in the Device Settings, it still shows up as a video source 4:3

Interesting, so if you set (in the LifeCam software) the LifeCam to 720p, in Wirecast it will give you a video feed (albeit in 4:3 aspect ratio)? Odd, I just get blue/black screen that way.

What operating system are you using? I've tried it on Vista x64 and Windows 7 32-bit.

FYI - I have Win 7 64bit (which I like) - ATI Mobility Card.. The LifeCam is set to 720.. I see it in the shot, but I have the same issue as tonyreno.. I can kind-of get it looking close to 16:9 using VH Multi Camera Studio (different thread..), but i find the freeware program a tad buggy..so I uninstalled it.. I'll wait for the real Wirecast solution..

hexydes, yes in LifeCam software I can see all the 16:9 and record 16:9 in their software, but in Wirecast the camera only comes up as 4:3. Actually, I could not get any USB cameras to render in 16:9, so I was thinking that it is a Wirecast issue. I am using Windows XP SP2. I heard somewhere on this board that Vista did not work all that well, and I am not sure about 7.

We are looking at improving the input selection options. BTW when you say you see 4:3 does the image look squished or just cropped?

It shouldn't show up blue/black though so we're dealing with a couple of issues. Wirecast isn't detecting the correct aspect ratio, that we can establish. We'll have to fix that.

hexydes Windows 7 32 bit should be fine. Please post your complete system specs in this thread to see if we're bumping into a specific hardware compatibility issue.

Hello Craig,

The image is not squished, it just defaults to the LifeCam's 4:3 mode. However, when you do force it into 16:9 in Wirecast settings it is stretched. Its as if Wirecast can not detect that the LifeCam has 16:9 HD capabilities.

I can send you screen shots if you can give me your email.

Thanks,

Tony

Tony, that's what I'm seeing with the Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro too which can also do 720. This confirms that it's not specific to a single 720 webcam and they exhibit the issue the same way. I've noted this in my report on the issue.

This issue has already been discussed here. http://forum.telestream.net/fo...did=3664&enterthread=y
I'm involved in a huge project regarding these cameras and we learned that the Driver will only allow two cameras to be viewed at one time. Currently, Wirecast activates all the USB camera that are connected at once which causes issues if you are using more than 2 cameras. So if a update is pushed out for HD web cameras, a option to keep Wirecast from reading all the cameras at once should also be added. For Example, the camera is off until you select the shot which then enables the feed with a 1-2 second delay.

I'll add that to the wish list.

As always the more detail the better. Please describe what you mean by "off." You can't select a shot without the picon. There could be a way to make the picon appear as needed or do you mean something else? If the coders have to guess they may guess wrong.

Wirecast activates all USB webcams so when you switch to the camera there is no activation delay. Viewing more than 2 cameras at one time seems to be a driver problem because VidBlaster has the same issue http://vidblaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=843.0

I wonder if Microsoft realized that one might want to use more than two cameras. I guess they weren't thinking of multicam streaming. Have you contacted Microsoft?
