I'm having a problem ramping background audio from 50% to 80% and back again. The audio actions aren't behaving as they should, where one sets the values at the beginning/end of the transition. Is there something I'm overlooking in SF2? Has anyone else encountered problems? (enabling "Ducking" might be a suggested solution, but I appreciate having full control over the automation.)

Thanks,

John

Can you provide a screencast as an example?

Even though the user interface jumps, does the ramp occur in the exported file?

Yes, the audio does ramp properly in the exported video. That might be useful to troubleshooting the issue, but it doesn't help me much in the production process. You know? It'd be too time consuming to trial-and-error X number of exports until I get the automation right. I figure a work around would be to export the video as it is, bring the video's audio into ProTools, match it up with the broken-out tracks I'm mixing, set my levels in ProTools, and bring the new audio file back into SF. Ridiculous, yes.

Incidentally, I'm also experiencing a frustrating delay in my playback audio that has rendered SF close to useless for this deadline project I'm trying to complete. When I hit the space bar for playback, it's 1 or 2 seconds before the audio comes in, if it comes in at all. Maddening.

FYI, I have no other audio programs or devices running. I've restarted and I trashed some old Vara preference files. SF 2 seemed to work fine for a vid I created last week (http://bit.ly/4BypKw), but now it's buggin out. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Can you hear the audio ramp down through the speakers when previewing in ScreenFlow?

Can't reproduce the problem demonstrated in your screencast, the user interface ramps just fine...

Can't see or hear ramping, up or down. Any thoughts on my preview audio not playing back properly?

Have you tried reset the audio device from Line-out to Headpones?

Scraster, I followed your steps exactly and it works fine for me. Try trashing your ScreenFlow preferences.

As it turns out, there is a known bug that causes MP3 audio to misbehave in areas where speed transitions are put on the timeline. I've been emailing with Support and the issue is being addressed. If I learn anything helpful, I'll post it back here. Thanks anyway sicast and CraigS.

Reports are that they've fixed the issue and it's in testing. As you mention it may be specific to the source.
