hi!
2.0 is very nice! I can't find a useful tip: closing the gap beetween two clips in the timeline. It could be very useful for me. thank you very much! Marco www.taffi.it ------------------------- Marco Tassinari http://www.taffi.it |

Ripple delete.
If you can't ripple delete because the left/right boundaries of the space don't hit any of your clips, create a temporary text box in the vicinity of the gap and stretch it so that it spans a bit more than the actual length of the gap. Now do the ripple delete. Then, delete the text box. ------------------------- PPC G5 Quad, OSX 10.5.7, Screenflow 1.5.4 |

You can also pull up clips by hand. ------------------------- CraigS Telestream Desktop Forum Moderator |

Hi
yes, ripple delete seems to work only with clip boundaris to delete. Placing a text box is worst than pulling clips by hand... After recording and cleaning non interesting parts I've got maybe ten-twenty gaps to close. See you at the next release! thank you both! Please explain how you would like such a "close gaps" feature might work. A well articulated feature request may inspire the coders.

The text box trick is worse? Not sure how it can be worse... It's an especially useful trick if you have lots of tracks. If you have only one track then I can see how simply moving clips manually would be faster. But what this trick ensures is that your parts remain in sync (a potential liability when moving parts by hand). Just to clarify the process I was suggesting:
• create a text box and stretch it so that it overlaps the left and right boundaries of the gap you want to close. Takes but a few seconds. • set your In and Out points to the L and R points of your gap. That's the longest part of the operation -- spotting the In and Out points • CMD-Delete to perform the Ripple Delete • Rubber-band the text box remnants, hit Delete Anyway, I think your idea is pretty cool IMO, but... the algorithm would have to be smart enough not to create a mess if the gaps between clips aren't all vertically aligned: Case in point... GAP [---clip 1 screen recording---] [----clip 2 screen recording---] [---clip 1 audio recording----] [-------- clip 2 audio recording---------] How would a situation like this be handled? ------------------------- PPC G5 Quad, OSX 10.5.7, Screenflow 1.5.4 |

Perhaps it only deletes the shortest gaps when two clips overlaps. Final Cut Pro has a remove gaps feature too but I'm reluctant to use any of the "automated" commands as they can muck things up. As tedious as it may seem, I prefer to go through and use human judgement on each situation.

Hi,
what I mean is exactly that: like the Final Cut "close gap" command. The situation in the example above makes the two audio clips be joined with the rest kept in sync. Another good solution is a "select all clips from the cursor to the last one" command. Once selected you can easily move the following clips to close the gap as you prefere. The "text box" tip could be useful in some cases but I don't like it when I have many gaps to close. Thank you both! All in the wish list. Certainly good ideas.
