It's really difficult to find content here, and the search doesn't always work.
For instance, I searched the "ScreenFlow Discussion" category for "imovie" after creating http://forum.telestream.net/fo...did=2227&enterthread=y but the Category search returned no hits. Further, when I use the global search, looking for Screenflow and iMovie "Screenflow imovie" seems to look for that exact phrase, not for the combination of the keywords. |

Agreed. I think the formatting of the topical sidebar at left definitely needs revisiting, as does the Latest News blip up top. The bread-crumbs get lost in the confusion of all those numbers, dashes and long file names. VBulletin FTW?

Believe me, those suggestions would help me too!

Because the forum's not easily searchable and because the FAQ is totally blank, there are a lot of repeats here. Kinda annoying. If there was an FAQ or an organized way to sort posts, you'd save yourself a lot of typing, Craig S. And we wouldn't have to search endlessly or wait for answers.

Like I said, those suggestions would help me too. These things do get discussed.

That things get discussed doesn't seem too encouraging. I understand there's a lot of pressure on you, Craig, and a revamp of the forum is beyond your control. Given your resources, you do a good job here. The forum's just not designed to handle a lot of what's posted. For instance, when a feature request is added to your "the wish list", what does that mean, and what confidence should a "wish list" response give to a user when there are countless other items on that list? I'm not posting only to complain. Here's a solution:
The new screencasting website at scrast.net has developed a ScreenFlow idea portal at screenflow.scrast.net that effectively quantifies feature requests. Instead of redundant entries being posted here for the most common feature requests (like built-in titling and other requests humored with the "wishlist" response), users at screenflow.scrast.net simply vote on feature requests as they've already been submitted by other ScreenFlow users. It works like Digg. The best ideas and those foremost on ScreenFlow users' minds rise to the top. I hope Telestream or other readers don't see this as some kind of maligned mutiny or traffic-driver for scrast.net's gain. It's not. The intention is to a) help Telestream in the absence of a better system b) help create a better product for us users. I'm hoping you'll allow the link to screenflow.scrast.net to remain public here and perhaps even share it in a new, dedicated thread. I also hope readers here will share the http://screenflow.scrast.netlink with other ScreenFlow users they know. This short link can be used for tweets: http://tinyurl.com/sf-s-net. Thanks for your consideration. -------------------------

Yay. That is much better than crappy forums.
I'd settle for a wiki, if it had voting like scrast.net. If you don't like scrast, how about using a site like getsatisfaction.com? |

The decision making involves a number of people with a number of legitimate observations and concerns. I can't speak in detail on such things but Telestream does takes a look at how the forum works but there are many considerations as to if/when things can happen. There's a list the coders get complete with comments from both coders, those who work with end users, testers. The coders evaluate and prioritize and/or have follow up discussions. There's a lot that goes into the soup and even then the recipe can change based on the outside world. Voting itself would only be a small portion of the weight and, in fact, the "sense" of importance of a feature from those of us who have user interaction (and there are certainly others besides myself) may actually be more valuable. It's probably in same sense that focus groups have value as they provide much more detail than voting. Posting the feature you want and saying why is really important. Much more so than votes similar to digg. ------------------------- CraigS Telestream Desktop Forum Moderator |
