Is it possible to combine two screenflow documents, or import one into another?
I'm creating a series of videos that need to show the interaction of two computers, or occasionally needs to show a tutorial that involves the need to restart. In either case, I end up with two or more separate Screenflow recordings captured on two Macs, or are very different times. I was surprized that I couldn't add one as additional media to another. Am I missing something easy? I don't want to have to convert one to a straight QuickTime video, because I would lose the ability to add cursor effects or control the mouse click sounds. |

It's not yet possible to combine Screenflow documents. This has certainly been requested and it's on the wishlist. I think it's an important feature for the reasons you mention.

A first important step in this direction would be to have copy paste *between* documents (as opposed to inside the same document). This doesn't seem to work for me.

Copy between ScreenFlow documents is a good idea. I've added it to the list.

Great! Because if one "mis-clicks" now, a clip might mistakingly end up in a new document, without any means to transfer it to an existing document.

Can you describe the "mis-click?" Is that opening the wrong document or something else? Knowing what goes wrong for people can point to how a feature might work.

I didn't select "add to existing document" and thus created a new document (admittedly a major mistake, but it happens to me about once a week). I'm not sure, but the last document one has used might be a reasonable default. Mind you: this happens and cannot be prevented. But with cross-document copy/paste, it is not a problem at all.

Another good reason for cross document copy/paste for sure.

Here's a workaround:
Within *.screenflow document there is a *.scc document. You can drag these direct to "foreign" timelines ... pd empd.de professional post workflows |

Do post a step by step for people to follow so they can do it too.

1) Right click on your screenflow project and select "Show Package Contents"
2) You'll see .scc files which can be dragged into the timeline of the currently opened project Unfortunately the .scc files are cryptically named, so you won't know which is the one you want. So you'll have to do it by trial and error. |

Lots of people are not aware of Show Package Contents and yes the names are inscrutable. We need to look for a more user friendly solution. I can't officially suggest that solution but I'm not going to discourage user "self discovery." I would suggest having a backup of project and installer when venturing in to "unofficial" territory though.

I've actually accidently discovered an easy way to do this. Open the screenflow project with the recording, go to the media pane and just drag the screen recording to the desktop. It will just show up with a .scc extention. It seems you can even rename them to make them less cryptic. But Craig will have to comment on whether the name has any meaning to the program thats required.

I can't comment on "unofficial" things such as this but you can certainly duplicate the file before renaming and give it a go. I won't tell you "don't jump" but I'll point you to the parachute when I can.
The great thing about a forum like this is that users can certainly share tips and such posts won't "disappear." ------------------------- CraigS Telestream Desktop Forum Moderator |
