I've been able to create a CableLabs compliant Mpeg Stream, it tests compliant.
There is however a Buffer Overflow Error that I have been told may effect playout. Has anybody run into this? Is there a workaround/fix? I am running Episode V 5.3 (23594_20091019) |

Can you post details about the Buffer Overflow Error?

I just got a reply back from our engineer, He is saying that 132.013 seconds into the content MProbe reports that the buffer is spiking into the multiplexing buffer range.
Is this the information you're looking for? |

Yes, can you get some kind of analysis file or log file showing that along with the encoded file?
If so, I'll provide a way you can send it to us. ------------------------- CraigS Telestream Desktop Forum Moderator |

I'll see what I can get for log files.
I've received further info is that there are bad forward and backward looking f-code values preventing playback on a couple different set top boxes. Please let me know where to send the info. Thanks |

I've been able to get around the forward_f_code issues by using the NTSC_7MBit profile and reconfiguring it to 3.75Mbit, I am still getting the buffer overflow errors tho.

Can you get me the settings file and encoded file you used? This way we can check for the cause on our end.

I also had an open help ticket on the overflow error's.
This is what I received: Support Case 1-76015 Dear Joseph, Engineering says the buffer overflow is a bug. They will be implementing a new MPEG encoder that fixes this issue, but probably not until early next year. Setting is CBR. Did you try VBV with small buffer size? Great. I sent you FTP info via forum private message. Include source file too. That way we can test and compare results with your problem encode. I'll make sure Linda knows it's up for testing as we work on the fix.
